Violetta

The Traviata is certainly one of the most well-known pieces of Verdi and possibly of the entire operatic repertoire. The libretto is written on the famous novel “Lady of the Camellias” by A. Dumas. Added to this is the theme of redemption through love and that of fatefulness, here closely bound a picture of the courtesan, the lost woman who has deviated from the path of virtue; a theme from novels that Verdi should take on the stage as new and modern. Violetta is a political heroine in the novel. The special feature of La Traviata was access and the rights of those affected, Verdi’s focus is on a person who goes through all the suffering in the world. It is the nudity of her voice, her agonizing demeanor, her love and her death, her agony that found expression in the music.
