Ariel
The Tempest | Fibich
“Bouře” (Op. 40) is one of Zdenek Fibich’s opera, based on a libretto by the Czech poet Jaroslav Vrchlický, written on the theme of the originally titled play “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare. It was first performed on March 1, 1895 at the National Theater in Prague. The role of Ariel is a spirit in service to Prospero, frequently disguises himself as figures from classical mythology, for example a nymph, a harpy and Ceres, acting as the latter in a masque and anti masque that Prospero creates.
